Thanksgiving history for your students

Let's take advantage of this post to remind some advises and techniques to deal with video activities:

ADVISES

- Bare in mind the goals of the activity and what you exactly want to achieve with it.
- Don't try to use the whole video with young students. Choose the ideal part for each grup or level, depending on the video length and your purposes as teacher.
- Use warming-up activities before projecting the video to make sure your students are used to the topic.
- A video is a good presentation activity but it can also be part of a practice.

TECHNIQUES

- Stop and say what's going to happen.

- Stop and describe the freeze frame: What's the girl wearing? What colour are the boy's trousers? What are they doing?

Listeners and watchers: play the video without the sound or switch off the image and just play the sound. You can play guessing games with this technique.

- I'm a good listener! Let students say every English word they have heard in the video. Make lists of words on the board or let them write these words down individually or in groups. you can make up team work activities. they feel very happy when they are able to identify spoken words.
