Guy Fawkes: past and present

In the present, Bonfire Night is celebrated on the 5th of November, especially in England. The reason why they made a celebration out of this historical event is not to forget what happened and tell their children about it.

Remember, remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes
‘Twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God’s providence he was catched
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys,
Ring the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys,
God save the King!

In schools, Bonfire Night is also commemorated so, why not doing the same in the English classroom?

...with a game (2nd-3rd cycle of Primary, with the help of the teacher) from http://www.bbc.co.uk

or maybe with a quiz (lower levels with the help of the teacher) from http://www.esolcourses.com
