WATCH MY TOWN

The project we suggest today is designed to be developed by year five or six at the end of the term or even at the end of the year.

To start with, revise or teach the town vocabulary (you can use the power point below or even go out with your pupils and take your own neighbourhood pictures...) Then divide the class into groups and let the children choose one of the buildings or places they are learning.

Once the kids are organised, assign some structures to each group for they to use in an oral exposition about the photo they have. Obviously, they are free to use all the language they want but a couple of examples of the grammar they are given must be included in their tasks.  They must also prepare a power point presentation to show the rest of the class.
It is advisable to provide them with an example of what they have to do; they will definitely find it easier thanks to it.

The aim of the activity is to revise all the year contents while working on technologies as well. At the same time children will improve their oral skills, their autonomy and self confidence and will learn how to work with others (check “Aprender juntos alumnos diferentes”, by Pere Pujlás, to get some information about cooperative learning).
